EV model-content visits rose 23% on average across the EU5.
eDataXchange recorded an average 23% increase in visits to EV model content across the EU5 in March. Over the period described in our post, petrol and diesel prices rose by 15% and 30% respectively.
Research and registrations move together
Pure EVs accounted for 18% of EU5 registrations in Q1, compared with 14% in Q1 2025. That is a four-percentage-point change in registration share—not a four per cent relative increase.
The digital findings are consistent with stronger interest in electric vehicles, alongside improved registrations.
A useful signal, not a causal verdict
Higher fuel costs may encourage buyers to reconsider powertrain choices, but coinciding changes do not establish causation. Incentives, model availability and other market conditions can also affect demand.
Online research is useful as an early indicator to monitor. It does not guarantee that every increase will become future sales. Read the subsequent EV Index updates for the broader picture of interest, affordability and infrastructure.
